What is BREEAM?
BREEAM stands for Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method.
It is a method to assess and classify the sustainability of building projects. Based on several criteria, divided into ten categories, the sustainability of a building is assessed objectively. For each of these criteria, the extent to which a building scores better than legal requirements and standard performance is assessed. Based on this, the building is ultimately given a classification ranging from “Pass, Good, Very good, Excellent to Excellent.” This rating allows a building to be objectively compared to other buildings.
